Zachorzy walked along behind the mare. His eyes glanced at Eliza's belly every few minutes. He wasn't sure when she was due, and he didn't want her getting out of his sight.

Char and Coal were already up, rearing and bucking playfully on the outskirts of their herd. Coal was looking for another chance to sneak away, and Char usually just followed her twin.

Windstar and Sundance were grazing in their usual side-by-side pattern, three foals prancing around them.

Silverstar looked up from grazing at Shadow's whinny. She turned to look at Ghost.

Eliza plodded along the forest floor, glancing up at the many blue jays that flocked the trees every few moments.

Calypso was eying her foals, a little wary that they might sneak away again.

Shadow reared, and once he was on all fours he walked up to her and ran his muzzle down her back.

"No," he lied, and shook his head in frustration, sending his forelock astray.

Ghost smiled. She then lied down for a moment, her stomach turning and twisting.

Zachorzy wondered where Eliza was getting her seemingly endless energy. He was ready for some nice deep sleep. But for now, he plodded along behind his mare, willing to be sleep-deprived to keep her in sight.

"Mom's watching you, er, us," Char said, noticing Calypso's eyes. Coal stomped the ground. "Rats!" he said. He looked around for a distraction. "Come on."

He, together with his twin, went charging straight at Sundance. Always the jittery horse, the dun mare squealed and panicked, sending Windstar and the foals into motion.

In the ensuing chaos, Coal hurried away, leaving Char behind.

Shadow sniled, and incresed his pressure.

"It is!?" Zachorzy was coming up behind his mate but leaped to the side to avoid her. He moved far enough away to give Eliza peace of mind then turned and stood, keeping watch.

Gathering her wits, Sundance stopped her panicked prancing and glanced around. Her foal was still close. Huffing angrily, she snapped, "That was Coal! He's always doing that to me."

Windstar nicker-chuckled and walked up beside her twin. "It's because he knows you always react like you did."

Char continued to lope in a frantic circle; she'd never had Coal leave her behind before.

Silverstar turned her head to look at Shadow then lowered it, relaxing.
