"I didn't say that," Sundance said. She let her head droop, and her eyes half-closed. Rousing herself, she added, "I am sleepy. It's been an eventful day."

Rather than bother sleeping upright like Windstar had, the dark dun mare went down, rolling onto her side. She couldn't remember the last time she and Windstar had both slept at the same time.

Marigold was grazing in a field unaware that her herd was dashing across the river. She had wandered away, telling them that she would be back within an hour.

It was lucky timing that Rebel was grazing in the same field. Raising his head, a palomino mare caught his eye. "Sister!" He exclaimed.
