When morning came, Windstar was first of the twins to wake. Climbing to her feet, she shook herself then gave a loud whinny. It was customary for Sundance to wake first, but today, she hadn't.

"Sundance?" Windstar walked toward her sister then veered off. Diablo was curled up beside the dark dun. Windstar decided to just keep calling to her sister. "Sundance!?"

She shook her head. "I lost trust in you long ago," she murmured, terrified.

A single tear ran down Rebel's cheek, like a spear. "Please." He whispered. "You're the only family I have left, besides Sugar and the foals. Please."
