Orestes stood knee-deep in a pond, splashing his muzzle playfully in the water. He was still alone, and it didn't surprise him a bit. The bachelor hadn't happened upon another horse since leaving his herd months ago.

"Well, it's still remarkable compared to mine, if in a tragic way," Cerulean said. "I was driven from my herd by my sire, and I wandered alone until I happened upon Star and Moon accepted me into his herd. That's my past."
