Quote:
Stardance's footfalls erupted from the dusty prairie ground as she sped up her pace, looking hurriedly behind her every so often to make sure she would stay a comfortable distance away from the approaching horse at all times. Fiery, yet flighty, was a bad personality combination for this filly.
(3 years old is still a filly?)
Sapphire spotted her. "Hello?" She called out.
Crystal shivered from the cold.
( It is possible for them to be called a mare at that age, although sometimes the name "filly" is carried until their fourth year. )
Stardance flicked an ear back and sped into a flat-out sprint. The whites of her eyes made her dark brown irises neutral, like a small island in the middle of a vast sea.
The dun veered to the left, into a dense and dark forest. Mercilessly panting, her ears pinned in fear, yet her hind legs threatened to strike out if the offending horse got to close.
