Spirit was grazing in a near by meadow when she heard something ... She quickly lifted her head to see a cougar on a rock ledge next to her ! She turned and the cougar jumped on her back. Spirit started bucking and rearing to get the cougar off.

Sugar whinnied but couldn't risk her own life to save Spirit. She stomped and snorted trying to scare it away.

Spirit jumped and rolled and killed the cougar. She was badly injured .
