"Okay", Zailey said "I just want to make sure, I don't want to bother you." Zailey nuzzled him

Zailey walked with Sage to a area she had arranged for Her and Him, "What do you think?" Zailey asked with a sweet smile on her face "I hope you like it" she said pointing to the decorations.

Fern sat in the log cowering and shaking with fear, the bear had eventually given up on such small food and waddled off. But still, what was he to do? He could not stay in the log, there might be a predator small enough to get in the log. And if he went out what dangers awaited him?

He did not know. He did the most foolish thing and yowled and mrowed calling for his long gone mother, or any kind cat to save the kitten in the log.

But what he did not know, was that the end of the log was perched on the river bank and had moved back slightly as the bear had pushed it, and the end of the log now touched the raging water, the log was moving back inch by inch. Only now did he pay attention to the sound of the raging waters and decided that if he was to survive, he must venture out of the log. But just as he took a step forward all it took was one large current to sweep the log off the bank and into his worst nightmare.....
