I believe Florida does as they are considered pests lol after that hopefully others will chime in. For special care? not really, mind you if your cold, i find some Vaseline, on the facial flesh especially drakes, they also like to roost, i have a shelf in my barn for them and boards set up outside.

I obviously, own some lol currently, 14 .. four which were hatched a little over 3wks ago. They are actually the duck i started with, and will still mainly keep, although for fun i am introducing some buffs. There hardy, personable, good foragers and good broody ducks. GL!

Obtaining "wild" Muscovy would typically be illegal. You can't just go grab some ducklings. Obtaining domestic Muscovy is fine. Not really any different requirements than other ducks. They like to roost and the females can fly well if you don't clip a wing. Like other domestic ducks, they need safe predator proof housing at night.

Spectrum ranch sells wild muscovy eggs would it be illegal to obtain them?

The Feral Government, in its finite wisdom, has determined that Muscovies are now native to three counties in South Texas and, therefore, all Muscovies, anywhere in the entire USA, are now protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. They have "suspended" enforcement regarding Muscovies because, somehow, these experts on all things animal had no idea that many thousands of people actually kept and raised Muscovies as food sources or pets.

The problem is, the rule has not yet been changed. They could decide to begin enforcement at any time or they could amend the rules to make sense and only protect it in those counties where they have decided they are now native. Those who say you are OK to own them today are, as far as we know right now, correct, but you need to be proactive and get involved in protecting the right to keep them as well as staying on top of rules and enforcement decisions by the government.
