So I have a large chicken run area surrounded by chain link fencing. I have seen quail around the neighborhood, but this is the first time I’ve seen them in the chicken coop. They come to forage some of the scratch that the chickens haven’t eaten (they are spoiled). Does anybody know if I can put some kind of a shelter out there for the quail to stay in?

Not sure if they'd use it, but growing up we would take old plastic tubs and just cut out a door and set it upside down. Then we would stuff some hay or other bedding in there. We called them "Poor man's doghouses".

I have some lying around I'll have to get a picture for you later. So you can see what I mean.

Here are some pictures. They're pretty dirty but they were the only ones I could find.

Most of my Quail sleep wherever, and ignore shelter, however they love cinder blocks, especially when they are against a wall. There’s usually at least 1 or 2 in them at all times. Plus the space gives them a place to go where they can be away from the chickens, unless you have really small chickens.
