Can a pet rabbit who is currently still nursing her kits foster wild rabbits? My mom is about done, I can take the babies out now, they are 7 weeks. I still see the little ones trying to nurse but dont know if she still is. My husband mowed over a rabbit nest yesterday. First cut of the season and grass was so long, he did kill something but cant tell what it is. The babies are fine. I checked this morning and the babies are not fat like they have been fed. I'm going to check tonight, if they havent can I put them with my mom? Would she take care of them? Can wild rabbits make pets? Do we put them back out to the wild when their old enough? Do we just leave them and possibly let them die?

I wouldn't as you can pass diseases from the wild ones to your pets. Also she probably won't accept the wild babies. And if they are a big age difference she might not have enough milk for them anyway.

How old are the wild ones? You might be able to bottle feed them, but bottle feeding baby rabbits is usually unsuccessful.

Sorry.

The are brand new...maybe 3 days old. I'm just going to not think about them I guess. We save or try to save every stray, every bird that falls from a nest, it's time to just let what happens happen.
