I have recently come across a particularly distressing wild turkey situation and would appreciate any advice. While my neighbors were away a wild hen decided to make her nest in the middle of their back yard, and under normal circumstances this would be a perfect place for her. However, they have a dog who has returned and his favorite past time is chasing the wild turkeys into the trees.... My neighbor has decided that she would like the turkey and her eggs removed. Knowing that I have hatched and raised ducks she came to me. I would never EVER take eggs from a mother especially a wild one, but now I am not sure what to do. I have tried researching moving the nest but I know that the chances of her finding her eggs again and excepting them are not great. I would normally let "nature take its course" but in this situation nature is not involved. Either the dog will get them or my neighbor will most likely dispose of them. HELP! I can't stand to think about these little guys (11 of them) and mom ending so tragically.

It may be illegal to disturb a "wild turkey" nest. I would check with the DNR in your area before I did anything. They may send someone out to try and relocate them to a wildlife sanctuary.

Thanks, I will definitely ask my neighbor to call them. I just hope that she is patient enough and that the dog doesn't get there first.
