wild turkey breeding

what the older girls do is build a nest and sit in it to lay there eggs and if i allow them, they will sit to hatch them after about 10-14 eggs being laid,
however if i keep removing the eggs they will continue to lay all season..
unlike the young girls they will lay them any old place in there pens..

i wish i could freerange to, but im not permitted to free range my wild easterns because of the Pa game commission laws, which i must follow beings I'm propagated...

dont mean to hijack this thread, but, i just bought a bronze-narri hen cross for 30 bucks. about a year old. the two gobblers peck at her a little but its not as bad as it was earlier. will this get better? also, do i make her a nest of hay or will she make it?

They probably quit before long, just got the get the pecking order situated.
As for nest, they usually dig one where they want it. You can give her a secluded spot and that will most likely be where she'll go. With the wilds we have, they always find a bush on the pen and get under it to lay. Brush piles, or just any thing laid up to give them a sense of security will work. Other wise, she'll just lay any where

As soon as I let my BR hens and tom out of their coop this morning they were going at it. Can't wait to have wittle babies again -- they're so cute! It was kind of funny because the hen was pecking at the tom's head (caruncles) and at his fluffed up feathers in front -- even though she had his attention -- I guess that's her way of flirting. He just stood there for a while. She kept bumping up against his front, until finally she practically laid down in front of him before he actually did anything. Usually the toms are right on the action, and the hens don't have to show their interest so much... but... He's getting older and a bit stodgy. Seems to walk "heavily" sometimes, as if he's tired (he's about 3 or 4 years old, the person I bought him from wasn't sure of his age). Anyways, he had some nice turkey babies last year, so I think he'll do fine again this year.
