Wild Waterfowl Incubation (9 hatched!) + Lots of great info!

Sounds great! I'll give er a try this year if she ends up laying a second clutch... Love the ducklings, keep the pics coming! Especially the ones with the hens in the ponds!

yep, as long as you dont let her raise them, mandarins will often lay 2 sometimes 3 clutches a year on a good hen, however if you let her raise them, she'd done, same will all species of them

How late will they lay? Its stayed way cool here, we're barely getting into the 80's and one of our ski resorts is still open, so I guess it still feels like spring to them. But how late have you had your latest hatch? Those pics of the ducklings on here are great!

Like you said, it depends on your location and climate. I have had them lay as late as August, but thats rare, Usually July or so and they are all wrapping it up, as long as your males are in full color, there's always a chance, once they molt, that's it for them though

Sounds great! My drake is still in full color and she is way broody so I'm sure it'll happen... Thanks for all the insights! And now for some more pics of those silver and reg woodies and mandarins and ring teal???

Hahaha I guess its time for more pics...tomorrow

And I am going to let both my mandie and ringed teal hens raise the babies they hatch out. I'll let you know which is better: artificial or natural brooding. The eggs will probably start hatching on Sunday
