Will a broken egg still hatch?

Hello, this is my first time posting here as most of my other questions have been answered in questions posted by others. You all seem like a pretty friendly bunch and I sure hope you can help!
Today I went to check on my broody hen and her eggs and one of the eggs has a pretty big piece of the shell broken off. I'm not too sure how that happened but it wasn't from the chick inside. The inner membranes are still intact and I can see that there is a pretty well formed chick inside. I'm guessing it would have been hatching some time this week. I have brought it inside and put it in a bowl with a lamp keeping it at 110* and I put a moist paper towel in with it to keep up the humidity. Is there anything else I can do? Or is it a lost cause?
Thank you for any help!

I would not think it would hatch and if it were to break further it could contaminate the good ones. The shell is designed to keep disease and bacteria out, making the inside of the egg kinda sterile for the growing chick. I would remove the cracked egg and cook it up(providing its not really bad) and feed it back to the hens. they seem to like cooked eggs and its good protein.

I really should read the WHOLE question before hitting reply:rolleyes:

If its that far along you could keep doing what your doing and hope for the best. you will need some kind of incubator to hold the temp and the humidity in order for it to hatch. OH yeah, 110 is WAY too hot for a developing baby chick. Good temp is 99.5-100°F

hehe! Thanks for the info... I don't know what made me think it was 110* poor thing I hope I didn't cook it! Should I be seeing any movement at this point?

At a 110 degrees, you might have cooked it. Is there anyway you can candle it? I have a few quail eggs in the bator that had minor cracks and I put wax on them and they are doing well so far.
