Will a broody duck be a mother to incubated ducklings?

We have four eggs in the incubator due to hatch in a week. Oddly enough our female (who is the biological mother) got broody yesterday. When the ducklings hatch can I just slip them underneath her? Or will she not recognize them - she's never been a mother before.

that might work, I've tried putting ducklings under a broody duck, but had bad results, but others have done it and the mother took to the ducklings just fine... probably depends on the duck

I agree with Nettie...it depends on the duck..

I have tried putting ducklings under one certain duck a few times...sometimes she takes them sometimes not.... So even a good mum will sometimes reject them.

Some first time mums can be a bit confused when the ducklings hatch too, so putting ducklings under her when she hasnt even been sitting long might really confuse her. I guess all you can do is try it and monitor her closely to see how she goes.
