When a hen is in her Broody mood she will try an hatch anything..lol so most likely yea she will hatch a duck or pheasent egg

The only hens to go broody are the ones that have the natural instinct to do so...not all hens, and most breeds don't have alot of broodies.

Some breeds are known for broody birds, while some rarely have some, so the answer is that it depends somewhat on the breed.

It depends on the breed - some don't; some almost stay broody, like cochins, silkies, OEGB, to name a few. What kind do you have? Normally they will lay a clutch of eggs and go broody and set.
