will a chicken hatch quail?

hi all. just wondered. i have a couple hens trying their best to go broody. i keep pulling them off and taking their eggs. would they hatch quail eggs? thanks. angela

Absolutely! Keep in mind, when quail hatch - they are feisty little buggers - and so much smaller than regular chicks, so I'd make sure to put the mamas in a cage with very small wire - like 1/2x1/2" mesh or even 1/4" if you can. And quail fly very well - so continue to keep them confined as they grow.

and from what I remember reading, no heavy butt chickens... more like silkies

Yep like Boyd said, needs to be a pretty small, and light chicken.

I was thinking of big mama as I wrote it.... (a buff orp hen who is twice as large as the rest who thinks she might be a lapdog?!) She makes for interesting conversation when she hops into others laps looking for treats.
