Will a cockerel mate the pullets through the winter?

Will they mate all year long or slack off during the winter months since it really is not hatching time?

With domestic chickens, the males will do some mating all year long. They will do more in the spring and summer, but they will not entirely quit during the fall and winter.

Some of their wild ancestors would stop at certain seasons, but most of the domestic breeds have lost that trait.

my black australorp mates every chance he gets. My poor hens have no feathers on their backs and their once beautiful combs are a memory. He might wind up in the pot if he doesn't stop his aggressiveness---to us---he is very protective and aggressive. I think its a good quality to have in your rooster but once he gets to know you and that you are only bringing food or picking up eggs and are not there to hurt anyone or mess with them, I don't understand why he continues to attack us.

As soon as I see feathers missing on the hens backs mine will become chicken soup. My cockerel is a easter egger and the pullets are 2 easter eggers and 5 barred rocks, the cockerel has a bit more work mating the barred rocks because there almost bigger than him.
