I have a duck with a slipped tendon. We tried stretching it out with a splint with no luck and now the answer is surgery. I'm wondering if anyone has had a duck lay after similar surgery or if this is going to put her out of my blood lines forever. She's a Call if that makes a difference.

Slipped tendons may or may not be genetic, but after healing she should begin laying again. As long as she recovers well and is healthy, I don't see why you couldn't use her for breeding.

I hope she gets better soon!

I know it might be genetic but she is half the size of any call I've seen in Australia. I'm hoping she passes the dwarf genetics and not the tendon issue.

Small ducks are sometimes runts for a reason, perhaps because of genetic issues. Were others in her clutch as small as her?

yes she has two siblings that are small and have had no issues. She just has better body type than they do.

That's cool! I bet she would make a wonderful breeder bird.
