I have 8 chicks that hatched from an incubator, they are all about a week old, but I was wondering could I mix the 8 with one of my hens, we have 6 hens and a bantam roo, the eggs that we incubated came from the previous owner of the hens and ALL of them hatched, buut I'm wondering if this will work, I dont even think my hens are broody

btw they are amarucuna hens.

it will only work if the hen you put them under is broody. Sorry, chikees

If they aren't broody, they'll probably try to kill the chicks. You should keep raising the chicks yourself.

when we first got them in oct. I think they were broody beacause they were sitting on the eggs that I hatched but they did a terible job going up to roost at night and hardly ever sitting on them, thats why I took the eggs, they were previously with a Buff O. rooster(that the other owner had), and then they went a long time without a rooster, and then I put my bantam roo with them and now he has been mating with all of them, but they are not sitting on the eggs!!!!!

I have encouraged broodyness by putting a hen in a smallish cage with a nest of eggs for a few days. dosnt always work but some of them seem to get so bored they just go into the broody trance and just sit on the eggs...I wouldnt put your chicks with a grown hen though as others have said, she would prolly kill them if cold temps didnt first.
