Will a PVC feeder with Y cause fighting amongs the hens?

I am looking into making a pvc feeder for the coop with a 3" Y at the bottom. So there will be one 3" opening for 7 hens. I am new to all of this, and just got the chicks, and they appear to be stepping all over each other to get to the feed now.
The current chick feeder is one of those mason jars turned upside down into a dish with like 8 circular openings cut out for them to eat. They don't spread themselves out at all. I can't imagine what it will be like when they are bigger and hungrier and there's only one place to get food. I know there are other options, but this one seems to keep the food clean and from what I've read, there's little waste.
Will the PVC idea work, or am I setting myself up for for a hen riot?

Honestly it does not mater how big or small the feeder is. They will still fight over it .you could have 100 openings and they will all fight for the same one. It is just like the nest boxes you can have 1 per bird but they all line up to use the same one. LOL

Mine do that. There are 4 chickens 2 of them use the same hole.

They compete for food too, I now only have 1 chicken cause my 2nd one got killed a couple weeks ago. I am going through way less feed now. about 75% less. I know pigs are the same way. 2 pigs will gain wait twice as fast as 1
