I really want to get a silkie because they are just so darn cute, but the rest of my flock (only 4) will be comprised of a barred rock, australorp, buff orp and maybe an EE. Will the silkie get picked on? Can you predict something like that? TIA from a newbie!

The smaller the run the more they fight. If they have enough room they will be fine. My LF egnor the Silkies they are to good to associate with the little fuzz balls.. ( Their words not mine.. I love my Silkies)

my silkie was smart.... have 5 large hens.... they'd go for her but she'd be quiet and move to a corner and stay ... for about a week they outcasted her but slowly they ignored her.

Depends on the bird. I have a little Serama hen who can hang with the Cochins, but the other Seramas aren't able to blend in as well. My Silkie hen can be out with them as well, but she has befriended a Cochin hen, and they party togethr by themselves. So I'd say pick a good chicken to be your Silkie's first friend. Make it one of the more dominant hens, but not an aggressive one. Then integrate them back into the flock together. If the other birds see that your Silkie is the friend of one of the bosses, they may like your new bird. Just like high school: the cool kid befriends someone new, he automatically becomes cool as well!
