Will a small egg hatch?

I collected my eggs today and got this little suprise. I was wondering if anyone has ever hatched an egg this small? I am going to give it a try although I don't think it will. It came from one of my bantam cochins which normally lay small brown eggs in the middle of the first picture.

no - that one will not hatch.

That is probably a portion of the ovary that broke off during ovulation. The egg wrapper will wrap a shell around any object that passes through. That egg has no yolk or very little & very little white.

If it would hatch or not - I don't know

Would I try and hatch it? - Absolutely not -

Small eggs will giveyou small chicks. I wouldn't do that to a chick.

It wouldn't make it. It wouldn't be fair.

I have had a couple eggs that size this year and neither of them had a yolk. So no, it wouldn't hatch.

same here! we have had them that small and they looked like a normal egg (yolk and white)-just tiny!

Cool! That's news to me.

Still - can you imagine a chick smaller than a penny? it'd be a bumble bee!

Haha! I got a couple of tiny eggs this year, but nothing as small as that one! Cute picture.
But I wouldn't try hatching that one. Ditto the really huge eggs. Not a good idea...

I hatch one of these what we refer to as first eggs.....it was from one of my gamehens when I was about 16 it did indeed miraculously hatch and lived to turn into an almost normal sized gamebird well a big banty sized gamebird anyway haha. So it is possible but not likely. Ill note I've tried about a dozen others over the yrs and none of those hatched.
