Will borax kill red mites?

Most use Permethrin powder or spray for lice and mites. That kills them dead pretty fast. You have to repeat that in 10 days to kill any eggs that were on them that hatched.

I do not believe I've ever heard anyone say they used Borax to rid their chickens of mites. That's not saying it wouldn't work, but I'd just get the Permethrin as it's pretty cheap and known to work and be safe for chickens.

Borax is put in wool insulation to ward off bugs. It is used to kill various insects, including mites. I think if you use it with pigeons and are happy with it, try it with your chickens.

Do your chickens have mites? You can sprinkle it (or spray it, mixed with water) around your run to keep mites away.
