Will Chicken Calm Down

Hi, I have 3 pekin bantams of which 2 are laying and fine to handle and will eat out of my hand. My third is is my sons.... She's the smallest and the guy we bought him from said she would be ideal for him as she's been hand reared from a chick..... Not the case at all. She is a complete fruit cake. I try n handle her everyday n she just freaks out coz she's split up from the rest n will eventually riggle free of just scream until I let her go. My sons starting to get upset as he just wants to hold her like the others but she's not playing ball. Will she get better when she starts laying? I'm hoping that at least then she will do that squatting thing n she won't freak out as much as trying to be caught?! Is that just wishful?? Any advise welcome.
