I just picked up some organic clover seed from my local food co-op. I was wondering if it would be good to plant in a corner of the chicken run for the chickens to munch on when I am unable to be around to let the free range during the day. What does everybody think. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

We have clover that grows in our yard and pull some for the chickens. Mine will eat the green but not what I call the flower bud. Mine also love the weeds in the flower beds - chickweed is one of them. If the chickens can get to where you are planting the seeds, they will tear it up so screen it off and when it's grown to where you want it, then you could introduce them to it.

Clovers repressenting multiple species will be very popular with your birds. Also consider crown and hairy vetches and if grows well in your area, then also purslane. Avoid sweet clovers (white and yellow) - cyanide may not get along well with birds.

Try restrict birds from getting at entire plant so plants not picked to death.
