my hens have went from laying 10-15 eggs a day to 3 eggs in almost 48 hours we were mid 90's all week but today i has cooled off thankfully. i did change feed on them on monday but went to a higher protein went from 21 to a 28 because i added in some 7 weeks olds and thought i should give them a lil more protien to get them started off right.from my previous experience my cotunix have always laid well in the heat and i have fed 28% before with no problems so i am stumped on this one.....any suggestions????

I haven't had any problems with them either, if anything mine are laying more since I switched their feed. It has been mid-90's here for a few weeks. It could be the feed switch though, that could do it, whether it's higher protein or not.

well i never have had to much problem switching feed before but theres always a first time for everything. i saw one eat an egg the other day so i though that was it. but i went out often today and only found the three eggs and no signs of any shells under the pen so i think they just quit laying. at least they laid me 73 eggs this week so i have some to refill the bator.....

I'll let you know today. It was 80 at 7am and is 110 this afternoon. Did I say its HOT?!?!?

It was crazy hot here for a bit and my egg production was perfectly fine getting 20 some eggs a day :)With the storms moving in it's been abit cooler (upper 60s hand 70s) air quality has been crap and still getting nice eggs...i'd sa it's somthing other than the heat.

Its hot, i said dang hot here!! Atleast it is suppose to cool down to the mid 80's later on this week, just in time for our local fair!! My kids are actually taking some of my Coturnix quail!! Wish them luck!!.............Jason

My Birds Have Slowed Way Down, But We Get Some Wicked Tropical Type Of Storms Here And The Humidity Jumps Around Like Mad --- Combine That With 110 Heat Index And The Girls Just Wilt! I Dont Think They Have The Energy To Lay Like They Usually Do--- Wreaks Havok With My Chicken Egg Production Too
