Will duck go broody? if ............

I lost my runner babies my mini duck brooded last month. If I put eggs under her will she go broody again? Or is it a seasonal thing? She isn't laying and had finished laying right about the time I put the runner eggs under her.But she was a faithful little thing.

Also, my runners have been free ranging in daytime in the fenced area and are interbreeding--if I wanted "pure" eggs of the right kind to hatch how long will I have to separate the two breeds of ducks so they aren't bred by the wrong drake?

I would give it a go if you really want her to hatch some babies! The worst that can happen is that she doesn't try and incubate, in which case maybe you could hatch them yourself?

Not sure about an answer to the second question, maybe from March through to August?
