Makes sense to me. We just got alfalfa pellets with the proviso they be introduced slowly so not to upset in digestive system. It should enrich both the chickens and their droppings. We're also gonna sprout alfalfa for our own consumption and to grow out in our garden, sharing indirectly with the chickens. Is this all around good? Yes we vary their diet: black oil sunflower seeds in a ferment made daily, plus kitchen scraps and suet, some etc (regular layer pellet feed)...

Chicken gumdrops are very potent fertilizers. May cause burning of plants if too much applied. ( too highly concentrated) Best when added to compost for a natural batch.
Let us know how your experimenting with alfalfa pellets works out.
