Hello i have some eggs hatching on wednesday and have out them into lockdown in a small incubaotor i brought the fan and heating plate is under the egg holders at the bottom i have put abit of carpet i had to use as a anti slip mat but had to make small holes so it didnt cover up the fan and stop the air circulating the only thing is when the eggs hatch which i heard can be messy is there a risk of the fluids dripping into the fan and heat plate and if so would this cause a fire and would i have to chuck the incubator away
I have another incubator which has the other eggs in it but they all wont fit in the little one and the eggs that are due have already been put in lockdown

Don't use carpet. I have an incubator that is that way and I use a square of drawer liner. You can get it cheap at Walmart or the dollar store. I wash and reuse it.

After you remove all the chicks, turn the bottom half of incubator upside down outside and shake to get all of the egg shell bits out. Wipe down both halves with aa mild soap or disinfectant then let them dry thoroughly.
