This is probably a stupid question but out of curiosity : I am getting 4 pullets and not legally allowed to have them here. I don't think it will really be an issue, i have great neighbors on both sides and just a creek and woods out back. However, if you cross the creek, walk through the woods and across a field someone has a rooster. We hear it crowing all the time, doesn't bother us but will my hens call to him? Can't see him, just hear him. I didn't know if hens will respond by calling the way birds sing to eachother.
TIA

I think what is more likely to happen is that when your pullets start laying they will sing the egg song. If the roo can hear them he will respond back. It can get pretty loud.
The only one of my flock that responds to a distant rooster crowing is my own roo...and if he ever finds that distant roo, he plans to beat the snot outta him.
