will incubator hatched pullets be broody

I bought 5 pullets that are 5-6 months old 3 laid and 2 are close, I only like to buy hens that sometimes, or frequently go broody, but i am getting mixed breeds so that's a bit hard. so the farmer that i bought them from hatches his chicks with an incubator will the hens go broody or will they not know what being a broody hen is or is it just instincts? and one more question is it possible to tell if a this breed is prone to go broody or do i have to know the breed?

Its pure instinct and yes, you have to know the breed (or at least be definitive about the breeds involved if its a cross, but likely may not be a good guide) to know whether you have a hen thats likely to be more broody than others.

The genetics gurus are out there and I'm sure they will chip in with more expert knowledge.

No, not dna, just, someone that knows about how dominant and recessive genes work when breeding / cross-breeding. If you type "sex link" into the search box, you'll see how, for example how knowledge of genetics works for breeding chicks that express their gender through pattern / colour. Theres quite members here that are knowledgeable on that stuff, thats all.

well everyone in my town well most of them just know few breeds like polish, ee, brahma, game fowls, and frizzles and most of the chicken keepers here only thing that even pure breeds are cross breeds or as we call them baladi breed so no help here but if i post some pics on BYC will someone know or at least an accurate guess so i know witch goes broody

They don't have to be hatched by a broody to be able to go broody themselves. Although it does depend what breed it is and how strong its instincts are. Breeds like silkies, orpingtons and game fowl often get broody and are great mothers whilst sex links very rarely go broody.

really I thought some sex links go broody but I guess they don't I am really curious as when I pick a pullet I don't like to buy breeds that are flightly as most of them don't go broody I try to look for docile birds as they go broody but not all of them games go broody but flightly
