I had a guinea keet in with my silkie chick in the brooder. The keet ended up ripping the upper beak off my chick. It's been about 2 months since the injury, but the beak doesn't seem to be growing back at all. Will it? Also, should I try to trim the lower beak at all? She eats and drinks fine.
Wow, poor baby! Amazing that she can eat and drink fine. If she's doing so, I'd only trim the lower beak's clear part only as it grows more. I'd keep it like it is since she's doing well. Cutting too much can cause pain and since she really lucked out I'd be reluctant to change a thing!
ohh my ..i have no idea but it sure makes for a ...umm ...strange looking bird apparently it can still eat fine ..hmm i would think it would grow back like a finger nail but i really dont know
I had read that it would grow back if there was enough beak left. I just didn't know how much is considered enough? I have to move into the city where chickens aren't allowed. So she's gonna become a house "cat".
