We came home with the wrong kind of feed--does anyone know if it is safe for layers to eat feed for meat birds, or will it harm them in some way?? Or should I mix it with layer feed??

It's fine. It's feed. It is nutritious. The problem is that it is likely very high in protein and won't have the calcium a layer needs. But this manageable. Provide the layers with re-cycled eggs shells and or oyster shell. Dilute the protein level by mixing in left over layer feed and/or tossing a bit more scratch or other lower protein feed.

There's a bunch of ways to skin that cat, as they used to say.
