Will mallard ducks stay put?

I have had a mallard for 1.5 years now. he can fly very well but stays in the yard. he has 2 pekin ducks that he grew up with that cant really fly so they may tend to keep him where he is.
Bet its funny when those fat bottom pekins try to keep up!

I had two Mallards - a drake and a hen - and both escaped their netted-top run and flew away when they were adults, never to be seen again. Whether they go or stay tends to be a 50/50 chance, likely influenced by environment as well (i.e do you have rivers or lakes nearby? are there wild Mallards flying overhead to tempt them? etc.)

It's also worth considering that ducks who are allowed to free fly are probably going to be at a higher risk of predation than ducks who stay within the safety of the yard.

I wouldn't get mallards or any other bantam breed of duck if your going to clip there wings. Just makes them more at risk of predation because they cant fly and there so lightweight the hawk can take off with them so easily.Thats unless there in a enclosed area.
