We adopted a kitten from the shelter an 6 weeks. He was taken from his mom really young. When he was little he would nuzzle, kneed and try to suckle my neck.
Well he is going to be a year old on 7/4. Will he ever stop? I'm the only one he does it to.

I don't know. I'm wondering the same thing. We have a cat thats now 8 months old and he 'nurses' on our blankets at night. lol its pretty weird, but I think its just soothing for him. He was weaned around 6-7 from his mom.

Look up 'wool sucking' thats what its called, theres alot of info on it. In the mean time, wear a scarf! haha

Probably not. I had one that occasionally would suck on me all his life; and at present have an 11 year old who's been sucking the fur on his right forearm (he even carefully licks it into a little nipple shape first, peculiar kitty) since age 5 weeks and I am SURE that HE will never stop while he's alive.

I remember asking a vet when he was maybe 6 months old, 'should I be trying to get him to stop that?'. The vet just gave me a Look, and said 'why? it makes him happy, and it's not hurting anything'

Good luck, have fun,

Hate to tell you this, but he will never probably stop. The fact he was taken from his mother young is the reason. Just get him a woobie to suck on instead of your neck<woobie = stuffed toy >.

Nursing?

My cat did it till he was PTS with advance kidney failure (renal) at 18 years old...

I did teach him to milk tread -not- on my skin.... -claws owie-

he nursed on my ear...
