I have a lovely point of lay cayuga girl that has wry tail, it didn't look too bad when she hatched but has gradually got worse over time.

The drake is treading her and she is eating and pooing just fine, she seems really happy and healthy but I can't find any information to help me decide what to do with her. I have someone that is interested in giving her a new home but they want answers about how she will lay and if she will be ok and I just can't answer any of their questions.

I don't want her to suffer trying to lay eggs, I would much rather put her to sleep, however, she seems so healthy that I don't want to do that in case everything is fine and I'm just being an overprotective mother.

Does anyone have any advice please? I am struggling to find any information online about wry tail and egg laying in ducks.

The advice for chickens seems to be don't breed from them, but there is very little about ducks.

Thank you.

Is her vent facing out to the side also? if it is she may have problems passing the egg. But if possible I'd get vet to give you an answer to this one. and please let us know what they say.

Hi there

Thank you for replying.

I can't tell which way her vent is facing, I am fairly inexperienced with ducks, I tried to find the vent but couldn't feel where it was.

I lalso ooked up duck anatomy too to see where the reproductive parts were in relation to her spine, this was to establish how likely she is to have problems laying. I could see no evidence of her having problems, but I still worry about her because she looks so bent.

The little I have found online is quite varied so am still none the wiser!
