I'm going on vacation for 5 days and my hens only get locked in the coop at night. They usually spend most their day in the run and an hour or two free ranging. My chicken sitter can only come in the morning so I can't have him lock the chickens up at night (predators around here are tough). I will have to keep them inside which I hope is alright. I got 5 hens, 19 weeks old. My coop is 4x4 with a roosting bar and has two vents, a back 16"x14" window and a front round 6" vent. I also have deep litter flooring and a food and water supply inside. I'm wondering if Theyle be alright and if not what improvements I can make.

can you reinforce the run? I think that many hens will themselves put off a lot of heat, plus the temperature of the weather.... this time of year, I leave the people door open into the coop, but my run/coup together is quite secure.

I don't think it is a good idea.
