Hello. :) I currently have 2 Japanese bantams and two of the same breed other chickens that I don't know what they are. They are not fighting or pecking one another but they are staying in their twos sleeping separately and not interacting with the opposite breed, will this change? I know nothing about this, they have a lovely coop, plenty of space and hay! Is this normal! Thanks everyone.

How old are they? If they are young, chances are they will eventually mix in together over time. Older hens, maybe or maybe not. I would think that over time they will get along well enough to hang out together. Give it time and see what happens. Be grateful they are not fighting. LOL

Thank you for the reply. They are very young I'd say around 3 months - 5 months old and they have only been living together 2 days. I just know nothing about chickens and I'm trying to learn as much as possible as its great fun. Thank you.

my hens have been together since last fall, 5 of them raised together since 2 days old. They STILL separate by breed/age. The RIR does her own thing. The oldest EE does her own thing. The 3 young EEs go their own way and the 2 BRs do too. They don't fight and they all bundle into the coop together when it's cold, but they don't socialize.
