will my cockerel try to mate ducks?

their food and water are inside the coop all the time with them. they are less messy then my chickens! unfortunately no dried meal worms here but I can get some earthworms in my garden. hope they will eat them. my chicken just love them. I gave them some silverbeet and cabbage leaves and they loved it. I hope the can eat silverbeet. I have found in another forum that ducks shouldn't eat spinach. what about muscovies as they are different from the other ducks? is there anything I shouldn't give them?

Spinach not so good for poultry something about calcium. not sure what silver beet is but red beet tops should be okay. My ducks love earth worms.

they like it. I gave them beet leaves as well and picked a few slugs and worms. unfortunately it has been cold, windy and we even had some snowflakes. they didn't go out. I put more hay in their coop but it is quite wet, I'll have to find a way to bring them out. the coop is small and it is impossible to keep it clean with them inside all the time.

Looks like it would be very tasty and something ducks would like. Maybe just herd them out and get the cleaning done. when my old drake gets to the back of the dog house he stays in during the day and I can't get him out I use an old mop handle to get him out by putting it behind him and he usually just comes out so I can pick him up.

got out today thanks to the holly mop!

the good news is: my cockerels realized ducks are not hens! they are doing well, even my bossy pullet didn't peck on them, just watched them as a scientist doing research. I feel lucky!

That's great news!! glad the chickens watched from a distance some of my big hens actually chase off my drakes, now that's a hoot. I picture your pullet standing there with a clip board and having a white coat on and glasses observing the new ducks[science project]. lol

the chickens didn't watch from the distance - they ate together, foraged together and walked together! my pullet was observing the duck's bill (while eating) from near, as a dentist would do!
