Will my Cuckoo Maran eggs get darker?

Well, that might explain the egg I found her on under the straw wagon. I thought she must have just been laying on someone else's egg. But I know the original owner purchased her from a hatchery, so I bet it was her egg. Just slightly darker than the RIR, Orp and BR eggs I've been getting... poo.

Well, I guess I'll be selling some of my RIR and BR layers to get Marans with darker eggs. Before I get attached to all of these girls!

Well I've always liked the Cuckoo Maran,bought some Thursday (7/21/2016) the seller showed me some of the eggs....they were lighter than my RIRs. Oh well they should darken w/age rite?...."WRON'O"....Utility strains don't....that's the reason I wonted them for the beautiful dark egg color....alas....I got a good deal on them though,$60 for 1 roo & 5 hen's $10 buck a piece ain't bad & they already lay'n.... I'm not complain'n.

Mine are a 3 too. They just started laying yesterday. I am a little disappointed. I was really hoping for dark chocolate colored eggs. Oh well, they are still eggs and pretty.
