Hi, I was just wondering if my muscovy duck egg will still hatch. It is on day 37, under a broody silkie. I know they take around 35 days to hatch. when I candled the egg it was really dark, so I could not see much with my little LED flashlight. How can I tell if it is pipping or not. Do I need to spray the egg with a little water, it has been raining here, so I am hoping that the humidity is okay. Thankyou for any advice.

I would give it a bit longer if broody is still interested in sitting on it. Sometimes it takes a wee bit longer. If mama gets off of it for any length of time, then she has decided that it isnt viable.

Good luck!

I have 2 broodies sharing the nest, and they keep switching eggs. Hopefully the duck egg will still hatch. It still hasn't hatched yet. I will keep the egg in the nest, for the rest of the week. Would the egg hatch late if it was cold for a day? during the first few days of incubation, the egg rolled out of the nest for the night, and was cold. My chickens accepted it back, and it appeared to be developing normally.
