Will my fence be too low? Too near trees?

Mine is 5 ft high around the run, my BO's are the only ones who will fly up & land in it, also have it covered with netting. They love to fly up on the deck, and then onto the railing. They do this to see me through the sliding glass door better, or I end up have 6 - 8 hens looking in the window at me. Today my youngest forgot to shut the screen & we had 3 hens & 1 roo in the house. Spoiled Brats!

I also have a Jack Russell mix, introduced her to the chickens when she was 7 weeks old. The only problem I have with her is, she like to tease our roo, she wants him to play chase with her. Well, he gets tired of her, running circles around him, and he will chase her & give her a peck. When she gets in with the Silkies, all she does is sit with them or lay in the dirt.

We have a 4 foot fence and our girls can get over with no problem. They do not intentionally fly over BUT when our mini dachshund runs up and scares them they will fly over. She killed one of our polish this past Friday. If you dont want the dogs to eat them then make it taller.

Yes, I agree completely, the oleander really should go...it is very poisonous....just not worth losing any of your chickens
