Hey! Here's the deal. I have a broody hen. I got fertilized eggs for her (I don't keep a rooster). Some of the nest eggs broke, which ruined most of the other eggs by making their shells messy. I had 11 eggs under her. I don't know exactly why they broke. Yesterday, I got more eggs for her. I decided to put 7 under her and move her to a (hopefully) safer spot. (I know, it's risky moving a broody, but I didn't know what else to do.) She seemed settled on the nest, so I left. I checked on her a little later, still sitting. The eggs had probably been under her for a couple hours when I went out to check her before bed. It was dark, and she was off the nest. The eggs were cold. I got her back on immediately, and as far as I know, she's been on her nest since. But will the eggs hatch? I'm not sure how long she was off.

:welcome Depending upon the ambient temperature in your area, the eggs should be fine.

I had a broody hen break an egg and the other eggs were covered with that broken egg, but I noticed that like 2 days before hatch and didn't want to disturb her or the eggs because it was so close to hatch time. Of the 12 eggs left, 11 hatched and 1 wasn't fertile. So it didn't ruin them.
As of cold eggs, it depends how long she has been on the eggs before that and how long she wasn't on them.

my broody is brooding in a regular nest box. She has gotten off and gone back on etc. Well at the very beginning there were a couple times she went back to the wrong nest. I have a camera in there so noticed with in an hour or so but a time or two I wasn't home so it was a couple hours. Then she was GREAT in the middle and the past 3-4 days she has done it and a couple times I couldn't do anything for 2-2.5 hrs (today started day 20 and she has/had 2 growing under her). Today was one of the days she was off for 2 hrs. I got home and went to peek at the eggs before I put her back on them and noticed one had pipped! Went out later tonight and it had hatched! The other egg under her was peeping away! so I would say depending on how long the should be ok. A couple times they felt cold to the touch since it has been in the 50's a lot here.

Wow, that's amazing.

Move her at night if you do.
I should have. Four days later (April 30) she hopped off her nest and acted completely done with it. I had to pitch the whole nest because I don't have other broody hens or an incubator. I was pretty bummed. She's not a first-timer, I hatched six healthy chicks with her last spring. 😕 Oh well.

I am sorry
