So about 2 months ago my husband's co worker gave him a hen and a rooster since the beginning we let them free range and they were pretty good at staying in the yard and not going anywhere pass the yard. About two weeks ago they introduce themselves to my neighbors back yard and they hang out there almost all morning afternoon and they return back to my yard to sleep. About 3 days ago the rooster return by itself and the hen was missing or so we thought ? Today I went outside to feed the rooster and the hen flew I'm out of no where I was so surprised cause I honestly thought the worst happened. But since then she just came to eat and she left the rooster followed and they both haven't returned and I don't see them I'm my neighbors yard no more can the hen have taken the rooster to the place she was in for the past 3 days sorry for the ignorance I'm just wondering if they will return back if they know they have food water and shelter here or will they wander off and look for something else or get lost. ... I honestly grew attached to my babies I don't want to loose them .

It's possible she could have a nest somewhere, or that they're living with your neighbor's chickens. The rooster will want to stay with the hen, wherever she goes. What kind of shelter do you provide them? Do you have a nestbox, or have you seen eggs laying around?

There are many reasons your chickens could have disappeared. Your neighbors could have gotten tired of them in your yard and made them disappear, a predator could have gotten them, they could have a nest somewhere (apparently not on your property), or maybe they joined another flock somewhere. Since you apparently live in town, IF your chickens come back, it would be a good idea to keep them contained in your own yard.
