Will my silkies lay soon?

There only 5 months old seems young to me for them them to start laying but i have noticed in the past few days there squating alot espcially if the roosters are around them. I know its a sign of sexual maturity but how about laying should i expect a egg soon?

I'm new to silkies but I have read they take awhile to start laying. Five months is about 20 weeks and that's still pretty young in terms of layers. The squatting for roosters can mean they are close. Maybe you have a few more weeks? Hope they start soon for you.

I have some silkies that started at about six months and others that started about 8 months
