Will neighbors rooster steal my pullets?

So while I love the idea of the Havahart it's not possible right now. We discovered our pen needs better flooring and rain guards as it flooded during a freak hail/thunderstorm. But I have been offered 2 roosters. 1 is 5 months old black autrolorp and needs a new home to prevent the adult Roos from hurting him. And 1 is a year old and is a Rhode Island Red who is getting beat up by another bigger Roo. With my pullets being 8 weeks I think the 5 month old would be safer for them. But the 1 year old Red would stand a better chance against a fully mature game Roo. Both Roos were offered to me by different people, and are under a death sentence if I don't take them.. I know this would be a stopgap measure, to by me time until I can get the Havahart. But what would you guys suggest?

I'm having the same issue. I'm afraid my neighbor's rooster will kill my cockerel so I started leaving one of my dogs out more (the dog doesn't bother my chickens). My dog has attacked the rooster before, leaving him with a lot less tail feathers than what he started with and a bashed up face since the rooster kept trying to jump through the fence. Well, guess what? The rooster came back this morning and my dog got him again. It's been about a month and a half since the last time. Doesn't seem like the dog idea will work unless your dog kills the rooster, unfortunately.

Unfortunately everyone gets to the point where they can no longer care for their animals. If they are destroying neighboring gardens, then he isn't really caring for them. I put a lot of work into my gardens and animals and if someones elses birds destroyed them they would end up in the crock pot.

Just read this thread. First thing that comes to mind is to suggest that he have his friends come over and help him to build a coop/pen for his chickens. It is his responsibility to contain his animals, not yours. While it may be difficult to be too forceful with him, it may be in the animal's best interest from their own safety stand point as well.

I had a neighbor years ago who had a cat that was allowed to roam the neighborhood loose. It had repeatedly come into my yard and relieved itself on my fresh vegetable garden. I had expressed my displeasure with this to my neighbor, but nothing ever changed.

Eventually I purchased a live animal trap and placed it in the garden with an open can of Tuna Fish as bait. As expected within a very short time, the cat was caught unharmed. I brought the cat to him IN the trap and suggested that the next time he may not be able to locate his cat. Problem was quickly solved.

Just a suggestion.

Hello

I am just starting my flock. I have two 5 month old pulletts and am adding 6 more of the same age plus a roo today. My neighbors, one next door and one across the street, have chickens also. They free range them periodically.

My question is when I begin to free range mine whats to stop their chickens and my chickens from mingling?

All and any suggestions are appreciated
