I have 13 12 week olds, that will not roost, they all lay on the floor of the coop, spreading out their necks, digging into the shavings, to sleep....this is not my first flock, its my oddest! Has anyone else ever had this happen in their coops?

Chicks often do this, idk why but some still do it as adults, it can depend on breeds, for example all my silkies bar one sleep in a giant pile of fluff on the floor together and my non silkies and one sleep on the roost 25 cm above them. Some heavy breeds wont roost as much or as fast as others such as light breeded flighty birds. It can also be a safety thing if they feel safe on the ground. That being said if the perch is to high they will struggle to get up it. I'd just leave them to it, its a giant pain to be putting them on the perch each night and they usually just hop off and back to the floor. My feeling is if they want to be there and are happy piled together then let them.
