Will sidewalk salt hurt chickens?

Hi! it's been very cold and icy in Wisconsin. After falling multiple time on my way to the coop, I decided to spread salt on the path to the coop. I also spread a little in front of the coop. Now I'm having second thoughts because when the weather finally gets warm, my chickens have full access to my enclosed garden. (their coop is inside my garden) Should I try to scoop out as much as I can when the ice finally melts? I'm worried they'll eat it. Or will the rain, when it gets warmer, wash it away?

Ok, thanks! My daughter already caught one of them eating the salt, she left the run door open and they came out while she was getting them mealworms, they usually won't walk in the snow. I guess they'll do anything for mealworms!! We got more snow last night, UGH:(

That's a great tip! I didn't have this problem last winter ( my first winter with chickens). It's been snowing, then freezing rain, and more snow!! I didn't sprinkle a lot inside the garden, I think I'll just shovel it out today.
