Will the chicks be safe?

I have a hen sitting on eight eggs in my coop. When the chicks hatch will they be at risk from the other hens? I have some free ranging English game cock hens who sort of all adopted the chicks from each other's nests. Do I need to move mom and eggs?

If it's possible I would certainly move momma and her babies to their own enclosure. Although momma chickens are usually great at protecting their babies it's a tough job and with other chickens around they could easily hurt/kill the chicks.

Better safe than sorry in my book.

i've seen that some people will put mama and the babies into their own cage inside the larger chicken area. you have to make sure that the bar spacing is small enough to keep the chicks in the cage of course!
if it were me i would do something to keep the chicks safe (separation) until they got older. but like everything else its one of those individual choices with lots of pluses and minuses on either side.
